What Can I Expect Before and During My Massage?

Before your massage, the massage therapist will gather information about you, such as any allergies, recent surgeries, illnesses or accidents, whether you are pregnant, what medications you are taking, if you have had a massage before, the type of massage and how long ago it was.

After the initial assessment, you will have a few minutes to yourself in the room to get onto the massage table. The massage therapist will leave the room, so you may have privacy. At this point, you may get undressed, taking off only the amount of clothing that you are comfortable with. There will be space provided for your personal

items and clothing.

During the session, the massage therapist will check with you about the pressure of the strokes. Feel free to speak up at any time. We want you to be sure you get the most out of your time with us. Please remember to drink plenty of water after your session as this will help flush the extra toxins out of your system.

What is Deep Tissue Massage?

Deep Tissue massage is a goal-oriented massage. With this type of work, the massage therapist may use his/her forearms, elbows or thumbs to apply pressure. Deep tissue work can be used in conjunction with Swedish massage to loosen the muscles in a specific area, or by itself for a mini-target session.

What is Lymphatic Balancing?

Lymphatic massage is a local and total body approach to optimal lymphatic health. This type of work uses gentle manual pumping and drainage techniques to simulate a specific wave-like movement to stimulate fluid motion and aid in the re-circulation of blood and lymph. This service is only offered by Vickie Giangregorio.

What is Myofascial Massage?

Myofascial massage is the slowest type of bodywork. This type of work is used to relieve aches and pains. Lotions are not used. Instead, the therapist will apply pressure, using the palm of his/her hand or fingertips. You may be asked to breathe during this session or move your arms or legs during a stroke so that muscles be better accessed.

What is a Swedish Massage?

Swedish massage is primarily used for relaxation. Cream or oil may be used with light strokes. Usually, this is a full body massage. You may want to have some areas skipped or opt to have the massage therapist work on all of your body.
